Master Your Goals, Improve Your Life, or Overcome a Major Obstacle -- One Small Habit at a Time
Imagine what life would be like if you started every morning with small actions that created a chain reaction of positive benefits throughout your life. You eat a healthy breakfast, have a great conversation with your loved ones, and then begin your workday focusing on the important tasks. Then, throughout the day, you complete other habits that positively impact your top goals. You’d probably feel more fulfilled, get more accomplished, and have a better direction for your career.
All of this is possible when you add DOZENS of small changes to your daily routine. These habits don’t require much effort. In fact, most of these habits ONLY take five minutes or less to complete. And all this can be done when you follow a strategy known as "Habit Stacking."
One Routine + Multiple Habits = Habit Stacking
We all know it's not easy to add multiple new habits to your day. But what you might not realize is it's fairly easy to build a single new routine. The essence of habit stacking is to take a series of small changes and create a ritual that you follow on a daily basis.
Habit stacking works because you eliminate the stress of trying to change too many things at once. Your goal is to simply focus on a single routine that only takes about 15 to 30 minutes to complete. Within this routine is a series of actions (or small changes). All you have to do is to create a checklist and follow it every single day.

"I especially appreciated the section on improving relationships and although my relationship with my spouse is solid and secure, it has brought a whole other level to the intimacy and closeness we share in our day to day lives. Simple tasks reap strong rewards. Thank you Steve!" -3DollarJeff
"The concept of making things a habit, then grouping habits together into a 'stack' so you just have to remember to do one group of actions, rather than a slew of individual ones, is outlined clearly, with examples of applications given. It's easy to follow, easy to implement, and has inspired me to have a review of my routines." -Liberty Gilmore - Goodreads.com
"I found his idea of 'stacking' habits transformative." Stacie Nelson--MotherhoodOnaDime.com
"I think almost everyone will find at least one valuable new tip to use in this book because there are so many and in many diverse areas. For example, there is a tip (on how to reduce the amount of spam email that finds its way into our email inboxes) that is brilliant."--Zeubushi.
"Excellent book if you want to get on top of your habits and get productive. The author is clearly very passionate about habits and uses them a lot himself. It's a really well researched book."-- Steve & Karen

About the author
"Build a Better Life - One Habit at a Time"
Getting more from life doesn't mean following the latest diet craze or motivation program. True success happens when you take action on a daily basis. In other words, it's your habits that help you achieve goals and live the life you've always wanted.
In his books, S.J. provides daily action plans for every area of your life: health, fitness, work and personal relationships. Unlike other personal development guides, his content focuses on taking action. So instead of reading over-hyped strategies that rarely work in the real-world, you'll get information that can be immediately implemented.
When not writing, S.J. likes to read, exercise and explore the different parts of the world

The most important lesson I learned from this book is to order my daily mini chores in piles that take about half an hour, ending with one of my keystone habits. That was my biggest "aha moment": to end up with an important habit like working out, doing my most difficult or important task of the day, etc.
There is a great little change that I am adding to my life thanks to this book: take my ordinary daily tasks and stack them in the right order and time of day, sometimes adding one or two tasks that I have not thought of before. This has helped me make a great change: I start and close every moment of my day doing what is most important to be productive and have a clear mind. I have 6 stacks, 2 for every moment of my day: before work, work, after work. My previous efforts to take control of my life are very easy to handle now. I'm getting more results with the tools I've been using for a while (Getting Things Done, Bullet Journal, Konmari method, etcetera).
I have not finished reading the list of 127 habits, but I think the concept of stacking habits and the advice that Scott gives to make it more fruitful are useful even if anyone is only going to take his or her daily tasks and order them in a new way, more fluent and more productive. There is no need to incorporate new habits to improve your life using this book. But surely I am taking more than one of the 127 habits to add even more value to my life. Thank you!
This book doesn't say anything that hasn't been said before. But it says it in a way that is familiar to us. Easy to grasp. Meaningful. And therefore it can have a really significant impact on our lives. Most of us are not great entrepreneurs, nor geniuses. We are "just a guy" looking to make the most out of our lives: to enjoy it and share the joy of it with our family and friends. This book is for us, most of us. And of course, for great entrepeneurs and geniuses too.

make your days more productive . I have already started using some of the ideas from this book
I realised I already do this to some extent, as many of us may do. And a lot of the suggestions are common sense - we know, but do we always do? Steve can help with that. I loved the "done" list, and the habit categories are separated, so going back to read again was easy. I would highly recommend this book as a useful, life enhancing read. Thanks, Steve.
The tips & tricks for overcoming obstacles when building up habits are a welcomed addition to this book. Again, not groundbreaking but nonetheless useful to have.
tl;dr - this book should be used as an instruction manual with examples for creating habit stacks then applied individually according to one's needs. No magic involved.

The book is easy to be read
This looks like an updated edition of the old book. I didn't read the old edition, but the author explains this one goes into more detail and explains some of the small habits that, in the previous edition, struck readers as too simple. There are also more habits included (looking at the titles, you can see that while the old edition includes 97 small changes, this one includes 127).
The book is broken down into twelve sections (which are each closer in length to a chapter than typical "part" or "section"):
• An introduction section
• A few sections about goals and some of the theory and psychology for habit stacking, as well as how to get started
• Seven sections for the 127 small changes, which are broken up into categories: career, finance, health, leisure, organization, relationships, spiritual habits
• A final section with few sample "stacks."
The book is well-structured and has a lot of specific, crunchy ideas. For example, beyond the specific small changes, there are specific prompts and questions to help you identify which habits would benefit you most. There are lists of other examples. Lists of steps to do X, to do Y, and so on and so forth.
